Ca: Calcium
Calcium is a major component of bone and teeth. It constitutes 2% of the human body and 10% of blood. The positive claims of calcium in the body are: it calms the nerves, activates blood coagulation with iron, strengthens muscle contraction, prevents high blood pressure, lowers cholesterol and helps prevent cardiovascular diseases. It also helps alleviate muscle cramps. Calcium deficiency will lead to brittle bone and teeth, muscle spasms and over-excited nerves.

Suggested Intake: Adult 800-1000mg daily

P: Phosphorus
Phosphorus is a mineral that plays pivotal roles in the structure and function of the body. It is essential for the process of bone mineralization, makes up the structure of the bone, and nerve conduction. It is present in muscle, the brain's nervous system, and cells, and constitutes 1% of the body. It assists in fighting fatigue, strengthening metabolism, and maintaining pH balance in the human body. Vitamin D deficiency will inhibit phosphorus intake; it will also lead to dental problems such as gum infection, tooth decay and the tendency for bone fractures.

Suggested Intake: Adult 150-200mg daily

Na: Sodium
It is present in the blood and lymphatic fluid in the form of NaCl as a major component, and constitutes 0.15% of the human body. It regulates osmotic pressure and maintains vitality of the cells. It also maintains normal blood pressure. Sodium deficiency will lead to low blood pressure, heart failure, and muscle spasms. However, excess of sodium will result in high pressure, arrhythmia, and muscle weakness. Sodium deficiency rarely occurs under normal diet.

K: Potassium
Potassium is a major component of our cells, constituting 0.35% of the human body. It regulates muscle contraction, beating of the heart and maintains cellular osmotic pressure. It also gets rid of excess sodium in the cell, lowers blood pressure, and protects against stroke-related death. Potassium deficiency rarely occurs under normal diet.

Suggested Intake: Adult 800-1000mg daily

Fe: Iron
Iron is a soluble chemical compound. It is the backbone of the energy-producing process. Hemoglobin is the protein that carries most of the oxygen in the red blood cells; its function and synthesis depend profoundly on iron. Iron in the red blood cell constitutes 0.004% in human body. Iron also stimulates immunity. Iron deficiency will lead to anemia (defect in the synthesis of hemoglobin), muscle weakness, nerves hypersensitive, asthma, fatigue, lack of appetite, weak immune system, behavioral problems (decrease alertness and attention span), and increase susceptibility to infection symptom such as pallor and difficult breathing. Women postmenstrual period lost of blood especially need supplement of iron.

Special properties and suggested intake: Adult 10-20mg daily (combine use with Vitamin C to increase blood generation)

I : Iodine
It is a crucial part of the thyroid hormones, which in turn plays a vital role in the production of energy. It prevents high blood pressure and promotes the functioning of vitamin A and B12. Iodine deficiency may cause hypothyroidism, chronic fatigue, growth arrest, weight gain, and enlargement of the thyroid (goiter). The deficiency may also lead to miscarriage in pregnant women, fetus fatality, and infant mental disabilities. However, excess amounts of iodine may also cause goiter. Therefore, it is important to consume appropriate amount of iodine.

Suggested Intake: Adult 150ug daily

Mg: Magnesium
Magnesium is present in bone and muscle, constituting 0.05% of the human body. It is beneficial in the treatment of neuromuscular and nervous disorders. Magnesium and calcium antagonize and collaborate at the same time. Magnesium is necessary in the reaction such as the synthesis of nucleic acid and proteins, while calcium inhibits them. When calcium is deficient, magnesium takes its place in the bone. Magnesium also inhibits increase of cellular calcium level, and maintains normal function of the heart and respiratory system. It also relieves muscle pain, smoothes muscle contraction, reduces stress and assists in fighting depression. It is protective against cardiovascular diseases and helpful in the treatment of high blood pressure. Alcohol can flush out magnesium; magnesium deficiency may lead to ischemic heart disease (oxygen starvation of heart muscle caused by spasms or narrowing and clogging of the arteries leading to the heart) and convulsion. However, excess magnesium may lead to loss of appetite.

Suggested Intake: Adult 200-700mg daily

Zn: Zinc
Zinc may help maintain and stabilize insulin activity in the body. It may also promote function of the pituitary hormone. Zinc is needed for the body to make protein, increase male potency and sex drive. It assists in healthy fetus development, especially in sexual characteristics and sexual function development. It is required for the maintenance of taste, smell and vision. It inhibits damages from singlet oxygen, assists in normal cellular division, and it has anti-carcinogen and anti-aging effects. Zinc also activates over 300 kinds of enzyme and boosts immune system. It plays part in hardening hair and nails, preventing hair loss, and protecting skin cells. Zinc deficiency will lead to insulin function weakening, result in diabetes, growth arrest and hair loss.

Suggested Intake: Adult 10-20mg daily

Se: Selenium
Selenium helps activate anti-oxidant enzyme function, promotes tissue softening and prevents hot flash and mood swings in menopause. It also prevents dandruff and has anti-carcinogenic effects. Se deficiency may decrease male potency and sex-drive, as Se is mostly present in the testis. Men need more selenium.

Suggested Intake: Adult 25-200mg daily

Cu: Copper
The protein hemoglobin carries most of the oxygen in the blood and relies upon copper as well as iron for its synthesis and function. It helps prevent anemia. Copper-zinc superoxide dismutase is a human enzyme that protects against superoxide-induced cellular damage. It has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Copper is also involved in the production of collagen, the protein responsible for functional integrity of bone, cartilage, skin and tendon; elastin, the protein that is mainly responsible for the elastic properties of the blood vessels, lungs and skin; the neurotransmitter noradrenalin, a key molecule in the working of the nervous system; and melanin formation (pigment found in the skin and hair). It also helps activate vitamin C. Deficiency in copper may lead to anemia that is responsive to iron, loss of bone density, and even some forms of arthritis.

Suggested Intake: Adult 1-3mg daily

Mn: Manganese
It is present in blood and muscle. Manganese is an essential mineral important to many enzyme systems in carrying out such functions as energy production, protein metabolism, bone formation, and the synthesis of L-dopamine, cholesterol, and mucopolysaccharides. Manganese activates the enzymes necessary for the body to use biotin, thiamine (B1), vitamin C, and chorine. It is important for normal functioning of central nervous system reflex. Manganese also prevents osteoporosis, improves memory, calms nerves and prevents impotence. Poor bone and cartilage health and spinal disc degeneration are possible with low manganese in diet. Deficiency in manganese also disrupts B1 activity.

Suggested Intake: Adult 10-20mg daily.

Cr: Chromium
Chromium may help restore some of the body's sensitivity to insulin and thus make better use of glucose, lowering glucose level in the blood. It may also assist in delivering protein to needed places. It is useful in the treatment and prevention of diabetes, protection against cardiovascular diseases and high blood pressure.

Suggested Intake: Adult 50-200mg daily

Mo: Molybdenum
Molybdenum is a component in oxidizing the enzyme. It prevents anemia and mobilize iron with xanthine-oxidase, an enzyme dependent upon Mo may participate in the up-take and release of iron from ferrintin. Molybdenum may aid the metabolism of carbohydrate and fat, and promote a healthy body. But excess consumption may lead to copper deficiency.

Suggested Intake: Adult 70-250mg daily

Cl: Chlorine
Maintains blood pH balance. It assists in liver functioning such as eliminating waste product in the body. It functions in the form of NaCl or KCl. Stomach acid is a chlorine product, assisting in digestive functioning. It also maintains body flexibility. Chlorine deficiency may lead to hair loss. Normal salt in our diet contains sufficient amount of chlorine.

Suggested Intake: Consumption of greater than 15g would cause discomfort.

Ni: Nickel, Si: Silicon, V: Vanadium, B: Boron, Sn: Tin
The above elements are supplementing normal human body metabolism and enzyme activities. They are crucial for healthy body functioning.
